Greetings and welcome to my website! I am Artur Avakyan, an Astrophysicist and Lead Software Engineer. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universität Tübingen in the High Energy Astrophysics group.

My passion lies at the intersection of astrophysics and computer science. I specialize in bridging the gap between raw astronomical Big Data and end-users by architecting robust scientific web portals, data pipelines, and high-performance physical engines.

Some of my major software and data engineering contributions include:

  • XRBcats: Science User Web Portal: Architected and deployed a comprehensive relational database and public web interface for Galactic X-ray binaries, providing standardized data access for the global community.
  • Machine Learning & Big Data Pipelines: Designed and implemented supervised ML pipelines (Python, scikit-learn) to process, cross-match, and classify millions of sources from the eROSITA, Gaia, and WISE surveys.
  • FREDDI (C++ Physical Engine): Co-developer of a highly optimized open-source C++ engine for modeling accretion disc dynamics, utilizing implicit finite-difference schemes.

Currently, I am actively seeking a permanent Lead Developer / Software Engineering position within large-scale international scientific facilities, where I can apply my expertise in Python, C++, and web architecture to build infrastructure that will serve science for decades.
